Why this website:

This website arose out of my interest in meteorites. When noting that virtually no information on the meteorites of my country was available on the internet (not even in Dutch!), I decided to construct a page myself. The first version of this page hit the net in 2001.

Apart from being a professional stone age archaeologist, I am an amateur meteor observer, and amateur meteoriticist. I authored or co-authored a number of scientific studies in meteor astronomy (see my publication list). Since 1992, I check reports on alleged Dutch meteorite 'falls' and 'finds' for the Dutch Meteor Society, and since 1993 I am a member of the Meteoritical Society.
